Why do sites even bother disabling right click?

Okay, so there are people who are save happy, "ooh! pretty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11111111111oneoneoneeleveneleven"

I myself like to save stuff. My 'Other' folder is very complex. There's the general folder for regular stuff (where everything else was before I made it complex) Right now, it's something like this: Background images (tiling and regular), Esoteric (space pictures and weird fairy like stuff), KiSS obviously for kiss dolls, MH Peeps, with pictures of MHers, and former mhers, renamed so I remember who everyone is, Not My Dolls.. okay, so this one is a bit complicated.. Originally, it was just a place to put my friend megan's dolls that she made in mspaint and sent to me through msn.. but now, it also houses dolls for me (labeled by filename and maker) as well as *everysingleffdollI'veseen* provided I've played the game.

Now, I admit. A good portion of the dolls in this folder are labeled 'do not adopt' However, they are there for a specific reason.

I'm obsessed with the series. I never plan to put these in any sort of site.. I couldn't, I have no clue which are adoptable and which aren't. So they're just there, floating around. Sometimes, I open up my favorites and just look at them, like I do to my own dolls. I treat them very nicely. They aren't abused, and they all have parties on Friday nights and I'm afraid to knock at my own computer it's rocking so hard.

*They LIKE being there*

Files are meant to be copied. That's why the command was built into OSes, because it's an integral part of computing. If any of those dollmakers said one day 'okay, i just lost my harddrive, all my backup disks were broken by my little sister, and I lost my webspace while I was in jail' I would definitely own up that I adopted all those dolls when told not to, I mean, I'd want someone else to do the same for me (although, I have my suspicions that no one has ever saved a doll of mine that I did not make specifically for them.. (you can do that, even if they're made for someone else:P I say that really plainly in the misc section of snowy-day) Someone.. someone *please* prove me wrong? ;_;;;;;;;;;;;)

Anyways, the rest of the folders are Pixel stuff, where awards and random pixel stuff goes, it has a subfolder too, like five. one is for snowystingraybethany's ljmood pics, one is oekakis I've saved of other people's, screenshots (mostly of ff5) Sigs-dollz (this is somewhat different, mostly from MH, like rissy's that I wanted to ridicule, or others that I wanted to spruce up for other people (not frankendolling bleh, you'd have to understand MH politics.. besides, they're almost all drag and drops:P) and then some people's (mh) sigs I've saved to make them transparent or something.. or fix them:P the last one is smileys, which is the y!m smileys nick went all obsessed over and timby's avs he made.

Then there's the good ol' references folder, with characters (mostly ff), aminals (misspelt on purpose), and clothes

Obviously then, I've been long acquainted with the 'save picture as' button. I've even used some of the stuff for printing after manipulating it somewhat.. But honestly. Would someone who took a picture of her husband and their baby in front of the zebra cage at the zoo really want to sue me for trying to entertain a group of *kindergarteners* and keep my english grade up at the same time?

I've never made money from anything I've saved(or for that matter, anything I've made either) and I know that there are unscrupulous people who would try to. But still.

Main reasons why you shouldn't disable right click:

1) The annoying 'on right click' message that pops up is *really* rude a lot of times. *coughsnotnaminganynamestinaling.cacoughs*

2) It impedes browsing. Cannot click 'back' or 'forward' or 'refresh' or 'show picture' *frowls* Actually, that's why I'm writing this. One doll site, with lots of dolls on a single page (well, I myself have thirty a page, but I don't disable right clicking!) disabled right clicking. Sure, her site said 'nothing can be adopted'(see rant one, when I get it done) but yeah, I'll probably never see the last third of the dolls. I have a modem. So if they didn't load the first time, and IE didn't cache the first ones for some reason, after all the others were downloaded, the page would give up on the rest of them, *again* and I can't force it to download them again. So it's a bad thing all around.

3) Some images are *really* hard to understand, sometimes. Occaisionally, I've found myself wondering 'wtp?!' and the right clicking to see what the webmaster named it as, to try and get more information. Often, I run into nothingness, because right click was disabled.

4) As I have little money to start with (and you ask why I have a website.. I also have very little patience, and very little to spend other money on, because I'm frugal. Plus, I found trying to save money with websites doesn't work.) I like public domain things a lot. Personally, I don't see why people should quite mind so much what someone does with something they've made, so long as the original is intact and they aren't getting more money than the creator is. Of course, I've never had a problem like that, so I may change my tune one of these days.. As sad as it seems, I'm almost looking forward to that day.. I know it's gotta be a lot of trouble, and I'll probably way overreact, but it would mean that I was looked up to-_- I gotta get rid of this pride complex.. It's going to cause me a lot of trouble..

5) It's easy to bypass if you're really desperate. screen cap, edit with frontpage, edit with notepad, view source.. etc etc etc... It's just usually too much trouble

The moral?

Don't use right click protection. You're only screwing yourself and your hits over.
