THIS IS SO FRIGGIN' HILARIOUS:D
Okay. So last night, more technological horror beset me.
My mouse's scroll button stopped registering hits. It would just spin all the way through.
So what does Allison do when technology she's had for a while ceases to work?
Same thing as always. Same thing as with our keyboard, as our old disc drive, and now, our old mouse.
Take it apart and oogle!
(the keyboard's issue was that I spilt a ton of water on it. I remember Ryan Greyhelm was in the GHC when I was doing that. I'm sure my weird combinations of letters as I tried to continue typing confused him. I was surprised with the fact that when I tried to reboot, that my computer suddenly didn't recognize my keyboard and wouldn't boot up-_- youstupe!
the disc drive was with the same computer. It was probably making ghost noises (usually I would fix this by shaking the entire case. Worked pretty good.). But I remember when we opened it up, it was beautiful. It wasn't rainbow colored. It was amber, and perfect. No scratches, just clearer than a mirror.)
Anyways, after the tornado warnings started dying off last night (someone said there were three that touched down around Dardenelle?) and my dad was trying to watch CSI Miami, I brought it to the living room and started looking for the screw. There was only one, and it was under the sticker (Do not do this at home kids, unless your stuff isn't under warranty anymore, like mine is!). I was almost thwarted by the fact that there was ANOTHER plastic cover over it. So I peeled that off too. Unscrewed it (haha, finally a screw that I don't strip out almost immediately) and try to pry it open and wind up thinking I broke itX.x;
(Oh, this was after I had been playing ffx. The Tornados and Thunderstorming outside put me in a lightningy mood, so I went to the thunderplains on my 175 hour game and GOT THAT STUPID VENUS SIGIL BABY!
It really does help to do it early in the evening, and helps more to have company. It literally takes less than twenty minutes.
(I also went down to the calm lands, but gave up on tidus' sigil;P that's still just crazy stupid.))
Anyways. It has three main parts. The top shell, that your hand rests on, the circuitry, and the bottom shell that glides on the mousepad. The circuitry was held to the shells by ooh, it smells like someone sprayed something really pretty. Maybe dad used air freshener in teh other room, anyways, the circuitry wasn't held down, it just had a few posts it was stuck between the two shells on. The cord actually went all around the back, to where your wrist is, but it had some posts holding it in (you get the feeling they were trying for as few moving parts as possible)
After I finished cleaning it out (with a mechanical pencil to reach in there, and occasionally banging it against my mathbook) I ended up with a huge pile of gunk. It was nasty and sad.
And I found out why it was skipping. The scrollwheel is like a rubber wheel (I always sorta imagined it as just a third of a wheelxD) with a post running through it. It is hexagonal, and it fits loosely into a hexagonal slot.
Well. It was supposed to be hexagonal. Mine was rather round.
Anyways. I put it back together and it didn't work still. So I went and bought a pretty blue one that matches my tablet.
I also saw a mouse pad with the character ai on it, and I was like 'OMG I KNOW THAT ONE! IT'S THE ONE THAT LOOKS LIKE A DUDE WEARING A HAT, LOVE!'
So I bought it. After checking to make sure they didn't try to claim it was something besides love. 'Cause people like to say that these chinese and japanese symbals they use don't mean stuff they say they do, but more like cusswords.
I'm pretty sure 愛 isn't cussing. Cara, would y ou like to reassure me? :P
anyways. Yeah.
