about movies

Sometimes I wonder if I should watch movies I've heard a lot about for a long time (examples that it's too late for; princess bride, spaceballs, blues brothers).

When people talk about something for such a long time, I start to build up a mental image in my head (like people do with books they read before they are filmed), and really even though a movie might be good, and you know this was how it was intended, it's not really what you wanted.

It's good in a way. Blues Brothers in particular was completely way different from what I imagined at first, so now I have full liberty to create that vision in my head and not worry about infringing on it 8)

I saw the Blues Brothers once as a very young child, and somehow my memory of the movie had an extra storyline about a squeaky-voiced biker.

I watched the Princess Bride after reading a story which kept referencing it. It was very entertaining. And I can see why people keep referencing it.
