It's so pathetic that personal failure is still success by pretty much everyone else's standards.

makes it hard to get any sympathy for one!

So what happened?

Obviously I could be wrong, but I would assume she is not happy with her calculus grade.

Obviously, you know that I sympathize with you. Not making perfect grades is weird and disconcerting for me, too. I failed to make an A in Accounting somehow.

"Oh, no, my A has turned into a B+!"

That magna cum laude still awaits you, regardless.

C, actually. I don't think a B would have her so distraught.

And there's a bit more on the line when her fellowship is dependent on her GPA.

Just saying.

I got a C or two in college. Plenty of B's. No one gets straight A's in college.

It probably doesn't help much, but grades do suck, a lot. Coming out of high school, I had 3.972134125235t23t52t534tyour mom. I had never gotten a C in my entire life. I think that in high school, I only got 3 B. My GPA would have been higher if my school did weighted grades for advanced classes.

Anyway, first semester of college was hokai, but second semester, in 4 classes, I got 2 Cs and a BC. It sucked. A lot. But, it does get better.

Oh, well, I can see why that is upsetting, but I think you'll be fine in the long term because mathematics doesn't advance as quickly as other subjects beyond that point unless you specialize in it, right? I wouldn't worry about it even if you are disappointed in yourself because you aren't going to be a mathematician, and it would be too perfect if you just did well in everything. You don't want to be a Mary Sue.

I learned to appreciate Bs in college--especially in math classes. It's too easy to drop a letter grade in that level of math by making a few mistakes.

I always liked math because it didn't take any work and it didn't involve sitting and memorizing a plethora of facts, but it took until the end of the semester to finally accept that as the problems get more involve, I might actually have to practice them. It's aa change to have to commit so many things to memory and routine.

I suppose I'm just not used to having to put in any effort. Whether I get a B or C in my calc course depends on how well I did on the final today. I have no idea how I did; I've been sick all weekend and I was a complete zombie for the three hours I sat there. If I get a C, I will against the advice of most pay to retake the course sometime later when I have a spot to fill, because it will drive me insane if I don't, and accept that from this point forward, I might have to do some homework.

I doubt much of that applies to you, but I sympathize with the prospect of getting a C. Cheer up, okay ?

I'm going to be an engineer though, and that almost = mathmetician

it does apply and it's the exact same, except I wasn't a zombie.

I never would have guessed. Well, at least your disappointment is understandable.

You should get the hang of everything a little ways' in.
