I counted north carolina and virginia, but I didn't count any airport-only states. Is that fair?

Same as me. I counted Washington even though I was only there for three hours, but not Georgia 'cause I only was in the airport.

I was only in Rhode Island for three hours for a Pawtucket baseball game, but I counted that. I haven't been in a state where I've solely been in the airport. I only drove straight through Mississippi and Alabama, but I counted those because we stopped. For gas.

well I've had some layovers in Minneapolis and Detroit, so no Minnesota and Michigan for me.

Virginia was pretty awesome. Up there in the mountains, there's this little path to a look out area, and there's a little line painted on the path 'kentucky/ virginia' and 'kentucky/tennessee' it was so neat xD
