Meekah's To Do list for this week
-Go to Tutor. Get smart.
-Logo that I've been putting off.
-Find bright , retro-y scarves to finish making top for the 70s dance on...Thursday.
-Make CD
-Go shopping. (Get new shoelaces , socks , scarves , riding gloves , and a pair of jeans)
-Check Mail.
-Rent Movies: Seabiscuit , Blue Collar Comedy Tour and Something else...(Suggestions , anyone?)
-Get revenge on brother.
-Convince mother to let you paint your room.
-Be happy.

In other news , I may update Meekah's Adventures of Male-ness rather soon.
And yes , I am Indeed , Cheering for the Toronto Maple Leafs in the stanley cup playoffs.
They are my hometown boys , and I love them.

I have also been thinking about prom dresses. Even though it is very far off.
Does anyone have a clue how much it might cost to find someone who will make a dress for you from a picture you bring in? Or if that is indeed , possible?

Yes , i've been thinking a lot. Not about anything useful , but thought is thought.
-Meekah

Movie suggestions... Hm... What is out right now? The last movies I rented were "Le Divorce" and "Seabiscuit," both of which were much different than I anticipated and neither of which I liked very much (sadness). I wanted to rent "Down With Love," but I had had already seen it before. It is however on my recommendations list. It is a bit on the ridiculous side, but I enjoyed it a lot.

It is possible--provided there's a tailor in your town--but if you don't want to rip off the tailor, it's not going to be significantly cheaper than buying a dress at a store. Materials alone for a prom dress (especially if it's one of your own design) will be $50-$100 at least and her time and labor will be worth at least another $200.
For comparison, I crochet afghans. I've calculated that the total cost of materials plus minimum wage for the hours I spend making one is at least $250. I don't think I would sell one for any less than $100.

One or the other of you asked me about the books and movies I've been babbling about so much in my journal lately. These are the Lord Peter Wimsey mysteries by Dorothy L Sayers. Sayers wrote during the 1920s and 1930s. She is, along with Agatha Christie, considered one of the Queens of Crime of the Golden Age of Detective Fiction. This is *really* good stuff. There are eleven Lord Peter books, of which eight have been made into movies. Those are: Clouds of Witness, The Unpleasantness at the Bellona Club, The Five Red Herrings, The Nine Tailors, Strong Poison, Have His Carcase, and Gaudy Night. Of these, I most highly recommend The Nine Tailors and Gaudy Night--though you will want to watch Strong Poison and Have His Carcase first to properly understand Gaudy Night.

I forgot one of the books which has been made into a movie: Murder Must Advertise. This one is also one of Sayers' best works.
