Christmas Gains
Dec. 26th, 2008 01:56 pmk So, this song in my head, I've had it in my head so many times this christmas season (how long is that anymore?) I didn't used to like it because I just simply didn't like that brand of early rock and roll (too much roll, not enough rock I guess?) but recently I got that last line stuck in my head "In the new old fashioned way!" and it just really appealed to me. I never thought about that song being daring or modern.
I've never actually like *listened* to the whole thing. Throughout my life, I've heard it on christmas cds, movies, the radio, etc, but I never personally made it play so I could hear it, and I guess that's why I don't really know it as well. Same goes for almost all those other "classic" christmas songs. I only downloaded mp3s of a few of them, actually the Christmas Song is the only one, so they've been almost intangible, out of reach for me. something I haven't really experienced other than as background music. I've actually sang Grandma Got Ran Over by a Reindeer in some sort of strange Christmas singing production in elementary school, but even then I didn't know the words so I just followed along until the chorus which I knew (from having heard other people sing it)
Same for I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas, Silver Bells, any of those. Maybe I should make them mine, now, and join the millions of people out there.
(I guess what I mean here is a subtle difference, but I feel as though those songs are mine. I have no control over them and don't know them, whereas with songs that are mine, I have played them, I do know most of the lyrics and the tune, etc. but I feel comfortable with them, I know them. Do you get it kinda?)
Anyways, my christmas gains:
Pre-Christmas Morning:
bluetooth mouse
earrings and a necklace
gloves, toboggan, socks, and thermal pajamas :D
some $$
Christmas Morning:
a Diva Cup
a candle from Bath and bodyworks
an insulated vest with furry hood (xD)
a little argyle jacket
the x-men 3 and spider-man 3 movies :D (now my collections are complete)
candy and cookies,
some more $$$
earrings
razorback hoodie
Now, this may be TMI, but I'm due for my period in a couple of days and I really cannot wait to see how this thing holds out :D *excited*
