lucky. in my part of california, the only way we might get a free day off school is if a water pipe bursts. That's happened once in my 12 years of school.
There was a time in third grade when we had to get water from somewhere 'cause it was out for a week. I think that was when they were spreading the city water lines (a lot of us where I lived used well water).
Then on the first day of school this year, we got out early from 5th hour and went home 'cause a pipe broke. That was fairly kewl.
