Apparently this weekend my grandma is choosing to celebrate Robert E. Lee's birthday rather than the paragon of civil rights xD

Even though nobody else will be there, one of the state senators refuses to honor the holiday, and is forcing all of his staff to be at work tomorrow.

This is actually the first year I've not had school for MLTKJ day. We never had the demographics for it(one black kid through allll elementary!). If we did miss school, it was teacher inservice day.

We have maybe 2 or 3 black kids in our school, and we've never not had it. :o
