Someone told me that warts were psychological. Well, that's weird because the one on my thumb I didn't believe was a wart until stu told me it looked just like the ones he used to have.

Anyways, some of you may know its short history; it sprang up sometime in the summer of 2005, and I've been biting it down ever since. I mean like all the way down, to where it hurt and the little red dots would spring up and then turn brown and black and then have skin grow back over them ready for me to bite it off again.

Then when we were at the movie theaters watching golden compass on my birthday I was biting it, and then suddenly I couldn't feel it anymore. We got back out in the light (albeit dim) and I looked and showed it to stu and neither of us could see it.

And I just remembered I'd had it at all just now and decided to chronicle it.

There's still a slight bump ruining the equilateral triangle that is my right thumb print, but I don't know if it's just scar tissue or the remnants laying down dormant.

In case it is a psychological thing, I think I'll refrain from biting it. That might encourage it.

Warts aren't psychological, they're viral. The virus is called Herpes, as in 'Genital Herpes'. Same virus, different location.

Once you've got it, you've got it for life, though the warts might come and go. Wart-dissolving acid patches, available at pharmacies, do a fairly good job and are painless; they just bleach the surrounding skin completely white for a while.

So, weird news. I remember talking to you a year or so ago about what I thought was a wart on my right thumb. Over time, it got big. And three more sprouted. All on that thumb. I tried the salissomething acid stick but couldn't be arsed to keep up with it so they just sat there for a year.

Then last week all but the newest one just started disappearing. Now, besides the newest one, they're completely gone.

We am we. o_o

The virus is the Human papilloma virus, actually. :) I'm pretty sure the Herpes simplex virus causes... herpes.

You may also get the wart cauterized off or frozen off.

.. And apparently, Dr. Oz on Oprah said the HPV vaccine is useless, so don't get that. ;)

I'm kinda hoping I'm done getting vaccinations for the rest of my life.

Deri, do you give blood? How can a person stand it? I want to, but I start crying and blacking out when they do the little fingertip prick test:o

No I don't give blood. I guess it's an idea but eh.

:) I have to get blood drawn tomorrow though, for lab tests. I hope I get a medtech who's really good that doesn't stab as deep.
